The following guide lines are to help you prolong the life of your flag. Our flags are made to the highest standards using MOD quality fabrics and hard wearing components.
Flying the flag.
- For maximum life the flag should be hoisted and lowered each day.
- Before hoisting check the condition of the heading, line and toggle. If there is undue wear on the heading, line or toggle the flag should not be flown. You should also check the condition of your flag pole's halyard. Again if there are any signs of wear the halyard should be replaced before the flag is flown. A repair service is available at Flags & Banners. Please contact us for further information.
- The flag should be hoisted using the fittings provided on the flag, ensuring that any knots are secure. The halyard should be tight enough to prevent the flag from billowing away from the pole but not so tight as to put undue strain on the line and toggle.
- Flags should not be flown in strong winds.
- Flags should not be flown in heavy rain, sleet, hail or snow.
- Flags should not be hoisted in a position in which the flag could have contact with another object while flying.
- Very exposed locations should be avoided where possible, as they will dramatically reduce flag life.
- Flags flown in busy city or town locations and areas of high air pollution will discolour quickly. A flag washing service is available at Flags & Banners. Please contact us for more details.
